Conditions of Membership

Hawkesbury Library Service - Conditions of Membership

On producing an acceptable form of identification you will be issued with a library card which will need to be signed. This will enable you to borrow items and use the computer equipment on the day of joining.If you are under 18 years of age you are required to have a parent or legal guardian sign your application form. Proof of their name and current address is required.


The following will be accepted forms of identification. All must be current. Library cards, credit cards, Medicare cards etc. are not sufficient

Rate notice

Electricity account

Water account

Telephone account

Rent / lease documents

Other official bills / accounts and documents with name and current address


When joining up children under 18, parents needs to produce a Medicare card or similar which shows child's nameA current library membership card must be produced to borrow library items and use equipment including computers or printers.Please keep your card in a secure place, as you are responsible for all items borrowed on your card.Please report lost cards to the library immediately. You will be held responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported.Please notify the library if you change your address, name, phone number or email address.The library will notify you if you have overdue items. You will not be able to borrow until overdue items are returned.If any items are lost or damaged beyond repair members will be required to pay the replacement cost and a processing fee per item.


The Library does not practise censorship of the collection or the Internet. Parents are responsible for their child's reading and Internet use. Junior library members (under the age of 16) must have the consent of their parent / guardian before using the Internet.Items need to be returned on time so that others may have an opportunity to borrow them.Library users must behave in an appropriate manner while in the Library.Please read the "Library Membership" flyer for more information.Your email address will be added to our eNewsletter database.Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties.
